ABOUT ME

Sudarshan Gautam (Nepali: सुदर्शन गौतम; born 1978, in Nepal) is the first person without arms to have reached the summit of Mount Everest without the use of prosthetics. He did this on May 20, 2013.  Gautam lost his arms in an accident in childhood. He now lives in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada with his wife Sudha Gautam.

Gautam was born in Gunshi Bhauduri, a village in the Ramechhap District, Nepal. As a boy, growing up in Kathmandu, where his parents had moved, he had an accident with a live power cable that led to the amputation of both of his arms when he was 13 years of age. After an accident, he learnt by himself how use his feet to do every day work like eat, write, use computer, take a shower, teeth brush, go to washroom, cooking foods, cleaning house, shaving and change cloths etc. He completed his school living education in his birth village of Gunshi, Bhaudari Ramechhap Nepal and he completed his Master in Commerce in Nepal commerce Campus Kathmandu Nepal writing by his feet. In Nepal commerce Campus Mr. Gautam was a Vice President of Nepal Student Union in 2003.

Sudarshan Gautam became very popular in Asia when he demonstrated driving a standard car in 1999 almost 50km inside Kathmandu valley front of thousands of people. He demonstrated the car driving skills in the city of Pokhara and Butawal Nepal.

After that, Gautam including his team involved in social activities. 

Gautam received a Diploma in Computer Science using a non-modified computer with his feet. He received a master’s degree from the Nepal Commerce Campus. He completed his education by writing his feet.

In 2005 Sudarshan Gautam moved to Canada for better life. He has two children, daughter Subestha and son Aarshin . His retired father Mr. Shiva Prasad Gautam was a principle of School in Nepal, Mother Sunita Gautam is a house wife and his younger brother Mr. Shashank Gautam lives in Kathmandu Nepal. They are only two sons of their parents.

In 2012 Prior to climbing Mount Everest, Gautam has summited two others mountains as a training to climb Mt Everest. The peaks of Mount Ramdung (5,925 meters (19,439 ft)) Dolakha Nepal and Mount Yala peak (5,732 meters (18,806 ft)).  

On May 20, 2013, while descending from Mount Everest, Gautam required a high-altitude helicopter rescue and that was the first highest rescue of the Mt Everest ever.

In 2014, Gautam appeared in the Nepali movie, Himmatwali (“a brave person”) with Rekha Thapa in Rekha Films. Sudarshan Gautam is a First Nepali Canadian person to became without both hands actor of Nepali films industry. After this films Nepali society has been changed their thinking for disable people.

After losing his booth arms he became stronger than before. Nepal society is not a modern, educational and advance so to be a disable is very hard to survive. Whatever he has done extra ordinary activities he wants to make the society and nation of Nepal make a pride. 

Sudarshan Gautam is a business entrepreneur. He is involving in multiple business-like restaurants and invest in real estate business.
